The city's back yard is called Paradise Valley.  Need we say more?  Access more than 84 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in the Gallatin National Forest.  The Crazy Mountains offer the 20-mile Shields Loop, the 15-mile Cottonwood/Trespass Trail, and the Ibex Cabin Trail.  The Absaroka Mountains contain the Mill creek area, with 20 miles of groomed trails.  The Rock Creek South area offers 14 miles of groomed and 60 miles of un-groomed, well-marked trails.  Season runs mid-December through April.  Gardiner is at Yellowstone's north entrance and five miles from Mammoth Hot Springs, where a variety of Yellowstone trails begin.

Services:  Sales, service, food and lodging are available in Livingston.  Rentals available in Gardiner and Mammoth Hot Springs.

Avalanches may occur at any time during the winter.  Avalanche conditions are available at local  Forest Service offices.
